Facebook has created a new reporting system in a bid to make the service safer from scammers and phishing attacks.
The social network is tapping its 900 million-plus army of members to help it secure the site from those who attack it on a daily basis.
If any member suspects they have been a target of an attempted or successful security scam, Facebook would like them to email phish@fb.com with all of the relevant details.
Phishing is term to describe people being conned into giving over their personal details online.
Facebook already has a complex set up of algorithms and automated systems to detect rogue websites and scammers trying to steal people’s personal information and yet until now, there hasn’t been a direct email address people can send detailed reports to about their negative experiences on the site.
The social network hopes the additional intelligence will help it warn others who have yet to be hit by a scam doing the rounds and thus prevent further attacks.
